3D Coat Coach

Everything you can do, explained calmly

A short guide to every part of the 3D Coat Coach, from the 3D doodle to the groomer report.

The 3D doodle and its six zones

Turn, zoom and tap a spot: ears, muzzle & beard, armpits, legs, tail and body.

  • Drag to turn the doodle all the way round, pinch or scroll to zoom. Tap a dot and the camera moves in gently; 'Overview' brings you back.
  • Muzzle & beard sits under the chin. It gets wet with every drink and collects food, so mats form fast. Comb it daily with the fine side of a metal comb, from the chin outwards.
  • Ears, armpits, legs, tail and body each have their own card with the cause of friction, the technique, the metal comb test and the right tools.
  • The soft warm patches show where tangles are most likely. The doodle breathes and blinks now and then — just so it feels a little more real.

Advice for your coat type and size

Fleece, curly or wool, Mini to Standard: brushing rhythm and time adapt to your dog.

  • Wavy fleece: a thorough brush 2–3 times a week with line brushing and a metal comb check.
  • Curly fleece: every other day, and the friction spots (collar, armpits) daily.
  • Wool: a short daily check plus three thorough sessions a week, working in narrow rows right down to the skin.
  • Size sets the time for a full brush: Mini about 20–30, Medium 30–45, Standard 45–60 minutes. Set coat type, size and birth date under Account.

Seasons on the doodle

Spring, summer, autumn and winter, each with its own scene and coat advice. Can be switched off.

  • Spring: grass and flowers around the paws. New growth and seeds catch easily in the coat — check legs and belly after walks.
  • Summer: a sand bed with dune grass. Sand and swimming water create friction: rinse, dry completely, then brush.
  • Autumn: rain and a puddle. Wet mud speeds up matting, so dry the legs well before you brush.
  • Winter: snow under the paws. Watch for road salt and ice balls between the pads.
  • The current season is shown by default. Pick another or tap 'Off' for a calm view. Signed in, your choice per dog follows you to every device.

Your dog's coat colour

Six colours, from cream and chalk white to copper red and chocolate.

  • Use the colour dots at the top right of the viewer. The curls keep their shading, so the doodle still looks like a doodle. Your choice is remembered.

Age, coat change and the next groom

See your dog's age, the coat change phase and a countdown to the groomer.

  • Between roughly 8 and 14 months the soft puppy coat turns into the adult coat. That's when mats appear fastest — check daily.
  • Enter your last groom and you'll see how many weeks are left (six by default), with extra tips for the final weeks.

Photo check

Unsure about a spot? Send a sharp photo (3 a day, with an account).

  • Take the photo in daylight, close up, with the coat parted. A blurry photo from a distance gives vague advice.
  • You get a calm assessment and steps to take. The limit resets at midnight.

Self-check and groomer report

Mark how the comb went, pin notes on the 3D dog and share the report via WhatsApp.

  • Under 'Advice & groomer', tap a zone after brushing: comb glided through, a small knot, or a mat against the skin. The dots on the dog take on that colour, and 'This week' gives a calm summary — no percentages.
  • Add a note per spot; it appears as a pin in the report. Print it or send it to your groomer via WhatsApp in one tap.

More dogs and your account

Add more dogs, switch with one tap and manage everything from your account.

  • Use '+ Add a dog' under the name. Each dog keeps its own coat type, size, colour, season and history.
  • The coach is free without an account. With a free account your dogs, checks and reports are saved and appear in your account overview on every device.

These tips help with everyday care at home, but never replace your groomer or vet.
